19/01164/AS – Installation of air conditioning unit to side elevation fronting Church Road and fascia signage to front elevation at 54 High Street, Tenterden, Kent TN30 6AU

I am writing on behalf of the Tenterden & District Residents Association (TDRA) to object to this application for the following reasons:

We feel that the proposed location for the air conditioning unit would visually harm a key elevation facing the main focal point of Tenterden High Street, St Mildred’s Church.

We feel that this would be wholly inappropriate for such a prominent location in the High Street conservation area. The existing A/C unit was set back on the chimney wall with a timber housing to reduce the visual impact.

The proposed unit is set on the outer ridge of the roof in a highly visually obtrusive position, the new unit should be more sensitively positioned – either hidden in the roof area or at the very least in the location of the existing unit with a suitable housing (timber slat) to minimise the visual impact.
