Wates submit planning application for Limes Land

Wates submit planning application for Limes Land

On 20th December Wates submitted an outline planning application (19/01788/AS) (link opens in new window) for development of 250 houses on land between Woodchurch Road and Appledore Road, a site known locally as Limes Land. The application is part of a “hybrid” application including a detailed planning application for development of 5 football pitches and associated clubhouse and parking provision on adjoining land together with an 8.66ha country park.

The application has been made under the provisions within the Local Plan for “windfall sites” as it is not a designated site within the Local Plan. TDRA have previously agreed (August 2018) that should these proposals be submitted as a planning application, we would strongly object on the basis that this proposal would constitute a completely unsustainable level of growth for Tenterden, well over the housing numbers already assigned to the town by the Local Plan.

TDRA have also previously commented to ABC that the site required a full Environmental Impact Assessment however this view was not accepted by ABC or at the subsequent appeal.

There is extensive documentation provided on the ABC website which the TDRA committee are currently studying for discussion at our next committee meeting prior to submitting our detailed comments.

TDRA members are encouraged to read the documents which are available online through the Ashford Borough Council website under “Planning and Building Control”:

The deadline for comments to ABC is 31st January.
