Tenterden, the Jewel of the Weald, is a charismatic and historic town in the heart of the Kent countryside. Part of the Borough of Ashford, it is well connected to Ashford and Maidstone by the A262 and the A28 and to Tunbridge Wells via National Route 18 of the National Cycle Network.
Tenterden is rich in history, with the distinctive St Mildred’s Church a prominent sight from the High Street. Tenterden High Street is full of historic buildings, independent shops, delicious eateries and coffee shops.

Over 800 years ago Tenterden had access to the sea with a port at Smallhythe. The coastline has changed considerably since then and the sea is now over 10 miles away. As a result of its history Tenterden is a member of the Cinque Ports Confederation and the town’s coat of arms includes the Cinque Ports.
Tenterden is a lively town with lots of annual events throughout the year including the Tenterden Folk Festival, the Spirit of Tenterden Festival and Tributes in the Park.

Popular attractions include the Kent & East Sussex Railway which takes you on a nostalgic trip through some of the finest Kent countryside all the way to Bodiam Castle. Tenterden also boasts the award winning Chapel Down Winery which is England’s leading wine producer.
