What Have We Achieved?
- We have acquired standing as a respected amenity society.
As a result we are consulted on all proposals for building and highways development.
- We have represented Tenterden's interests directly with the
Borough Council on the draft Local Development Framework Core Strategy document and
have commented in detail on the Issues and Options Report. We actively participated
in the Community Workshop on 23rd January 2008 arranged by Ashford Borough Council
to discuss future housing in Tenterden and other issues for the period to 2021.
- At the invitation of the Mayor of Tenterden we participated
in a community discussion in July 2008 to discuss potential locations for 500 new
houses in Tenterden. Our views contributed significantly to the subsequent response
by the Town Council to the Borough.
- Collaborated with the Highways Department and Tenterden
Town Council in identifying matters for highways improvement, including speed
controls in St Michaels and the need for long-term parking.
- We have advised and supported many individual TDRA members
on local issues of concern, ranging from the postal delivery service, condition of
pavements and road drainage to bus services and road signs.
- Raised public awareness of the need for adequate and
appropriate lighting in the area, and supported the Town Council's efforts to
improve the situation.

be provided by developers of new housing and for provision of shared equity housing.
- Supported the principle of a cycleway from Grange Road to
the Town Centre, while lobbying for a safe exit and recognition of the concerns of
local residents to retain their privacy.
- Initiated a computerised Tenterden Community Archive of
nearly 1000 photographs of the Town’s history and heritage, which will be made
available to local schools and the general public.
